Austin Plumbing Donates Services to Community Splash Pad Project
A couple years ago, the Lake Country Rotary and Lake Country Foundation began raising funds to construct a new Splash Pad in Nixon Park in Hartland. After two years, they had raised $300,000 in cash and in-kind donations. Construction began in spring 2013 and the grand opening was held this past weekend at the Beer & BBQ Celebration. The pad is owned and operated by the Village of Hartland.
We were honored when asked to bid on the project. Instead of bidding, we decided it would be a great way to give back to our hometown. We donated all labor and provided all job site support to run the plumbing for the Splash Pad. We also passed our cost of materials on to the Foundation to keep costs down as much as possible. It always feels great to give back to the community and we know this project will do a lot of good going forward.
So what is a splash pad? According the Lake Country Rotary website:
"A splash pad combines the sensations of water movements and interactive play elements in a safe 'zero-depth' water play area. There is no need for lifeguards and virtually no drowning risk. The play area is constructed on a concrete slab with various water features that spray water in different patterns and directions, cooling off the visitors on those hot summer days."
The Austin Plumbing team is excited to be a part of this wonderful playground for the Village of Hartland. It was a huge hit at the grand opening this weekend and we believe it will be a hot spot for families throughout the summer.
