Cold Weather Plumbing Solutions

Winter is back and in full swing! We have not experienced sustained cold weather temperatures like this in many, many years and this can cause many problems for your home. For example, if you find yourself without water isolated to just one or two plumbing fixtures in your home, chances are they are frozen. Often times pipes to the kitchen sink area freeze, especially if you have a kitchen sink or a bathroom sink that faces an exterior wall. If you do find yourself in this situation, the best thing to do is turn up the heat, open the cabinet below, and place a box fan on low speed toward the affected area. Another preventative measure you can take is to open the faucets that are exposed to air drafts or an exterior wall, to a slow drip throughout the cold spell to prevent freezing.
